Frequently Asked Questions:

-Why choose Montreal-VoIP?
Asterisk is an Open source PBX software that allows you to create fully functional phone systems at a fraction of the cost of traditional PBX hardware. Asterisk can provide high quality business solutions that are affordable to all small businesses. Not only is the inital system more cost effective than it's competition but by using lowest cost routing ongoing savings can be realised by using VoIP lines for long distance calls (it's like having a built in calling card for your users).

-Can I keep my Bell Lines?
These systems are designed to work in conjunction with the regular phone lines. With either a 4 or 8 line system the Lines coming in from Bell will not need to be changed meaning you can keep your existing numbers. This will also minimize any switchover time. All systems can use both VoIP and regular phone service.

-How many users do the systems support?
Each businesses needs are different, Montreal VoIP will recommend and build a system that is best suited to yours. Since each user is different, we will discuss your phone needs with you to determine the hardware required to support your call volume..

-Can I use my existing Wiring?
VoIP phone require a network connection to operate with the system. If you have available network connections in each office they can use one of these. In the event that each desk has only one port many of the available IP phones have built in switches on the back so both a users PC and phone can share a connection. This type of set up can support both 10/100(megabit) and 10/100/1000(gigabit) networks with the right choice of phone. In the event that additional wiring is required Montreal-VoIP can offer this service.

-Can I use my old phones?
This will mainly depend on what the old phone system you are using is. Regular home phones can be configured to work with the system, however they will often lack the functionality that can be provided by business VoIP phones. An older system like a Norstars phones are not directly compatible with the VoIP system, however it is possible to have the old system and new system work together. This can be useful when wishing to expand past your current systems capabilities.

-Can I use my own Hardware?
If you have a PC available that you would like Montreal-VOIP to configure for use as an Asterisk PBX or as an integrated solution we can evaluate it's suitability for one or all the tasks you require.

-What happens as my business grows?
As the company expands and more employees are hired the usage of the server will increase. The exact amount of employees that can run off of one system is based on their usage. If server performance becomes an issue the system can be upgraded in the areas that are needed without needing to buy an entirely new system.

-Are 911 emergency calls supported?
If using bell lines to terminate your calls then the 911 service remains unaffected. If the deployment relies on VoIP only termination, then a special 911 service will be required. This is because when calling from a regular line, the 911 call is routed based on your location, with voip, your calls are on the internet and so could be anywhere. The 911 service will allow you to register your location.

-What payment options are availble?
We can accept direct payment through Cash on delivery or Paypal, Master Card, Visa or Amex through our web site. Montreal-VoIP can also offer flexible financing or leasing options on it's equipment upon credit approval.
